O rito

Salerno,2014

Final Installation created during a residency at "Teatri Sospesi" in Salerno, Italy, playing with the fine line that separates life-enhancing ritual and fossilizing obsession.  For 3 days locals from very different social backgrounds had been interviewed about their personal rites and rituals. The visual installation - paper boats with a ritual written on each one - was accompanied by a audio track: Each frequency of a ritual ("Every month/day/year") was associated with a common sound, which was repeated according to the same proportion of the frequency. All the sounds together create a "music of the spheres", recalling the ancient philosophical concept in which the universe is seen as a system of mathematical proportions and where the movements of the celestial bodies create the "musica universalis"
